Extension version: 1.6.2. Updated September 12, 2026.
SidePiP adds an in-video button for opening supported videos in a floating window and controlling playback. This policy describes data processing by the extension itself.
The extension locally detects videos and controls on an open page. It uses the page title or video label for the PiP heading, the website hostname for playback-speed preferences, and the current video state for playback, mute and seeking. Some available page controls may be displayed in PiP, forwarding clicks to their original elements.
Titles, current playback information and references to page elements are processed in memory. Website hostnames, selected playback speeds and the automatic PiP preference are saved in the extension's local browser storage. Full page URLs, page titles and a chronological browsing log are not saved in that storage.
SidePiP's code does not send this information to the developer or to an analytics server. The data is not sold or used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions or purposes unrelated to PiP. The extension contains no accounts, advertising or analytics modules.
Video continues to be supplied by the original website. Interactions with that site's player or another extension's controls may be processed by the respective website or extension under its own policies. SidePiP does not change those policies.
HTTP/HTTPS page access is needed to find videos, add the in-video button and control the selected player. The storage permission is used for settings. The tabs and history permissions are not requested. Returning to the source tab uses tab and window identifiers provided by the browser.
Local settings are retained until the extension is uninstalled or its storage is cleared. The extension does not synchronize these settings with a server. Website access can be adjusted in your browser's extension settings.
For questions, use the publisher contact details listed on SidePiP's Chrome Web Store page. This policy and the store disclosures will be updated if data processing changes.
